Background: Born in Ireland to unwed teen parents, Erin’s start to life was pretty simple. Disowned by their parents, run away and getting by on what little they had, his parents had dreams to get married but due to money and resources just never got around to it. His father got a simple job while his mother stayed at home in their one room apt to take care of him. Luck was on their side when his father got promoted quickly from within when the owner of the store became impressed with his maturity and intelligence, as well as sympathetic to his cause. As time would have it his father soon found himself with an even better job within the company since he was young and knowledgeable enough to promote their business to the masses in the newest, coolest ways.
However what should have been a positive thing began the downward spiral of Erin’s short life. After promoting the company from within Ireland, Erin’s father was sent to work on promoting the company over seas. The pay was fabulous and at the time there didn’t seem to be any reason to deny such a great opportunity so he took it, leaving his love and child to their own devices while receiving a stipend of his pay check each month to survive on. While his father was off and happy his mother was growing lonely and bored with her house wife life in their tiny apt and soon began playing around with other men in an attempt to bring more excitement into her life. Then one fateful evening as Erin slept his father came home unexpectedly to surprise them, having also been lonely his boss let him return for a few days on break, while the company over seas went over and signed paper work. Sadly however this was the last evening he would see his father, for when the man caught his love in bed with another he stormed out in a rage, after a lot of arguing of course, and never returned.
Of course as he thought of his young son he made sure to send money and gifts so the child wouldn’t think he was forgotten but his wife would have none of it, and in bitter spite spent the money and threw away the gifts, never letting Erin talk to him on the phone, telling the young child his father no longer loved him and had moved on to a better life with a nicer home, new wife and better children he loved more than Erin. She on the other hand fell in love with a bad seed and grew into new habits of smoking, drinking (at all hours of the day) and just all around having the time of her life while forgetting about her child (such as picking him up from school or even buying food for him to eat- many days of doggie bags from local pubs). If that wasn’t bad enough his mother’s new boyfriend was rough on the child, slapping him around if he was too loud or just for the fact he was around/ in the way and when Erin got upset the man would back hand him harder telling him roughly that “the world is a tough place, man up, no one likes a baby” (a comment which was like a shot to the heart for his father left when he was a baby). His only solace in these times was his best friend, Connor (who never told his parent of Erin’s struggles, for Erin’s sake and the fear they’d never get to see each other again if Erin was taken away from his mother).
Then came the accident that took his mother's (and her boy friends) life. Due to the circumstances in which Erin was born into there was no one to take him in so he was sent into an orphanage until one day, after a lengthy period of time, his father found out. Immediately his father went to claim his kin but what he came to find was not at all what he was expecting. He’d left his son as a plump, happy, baby boy and came back to find him thin, introverted, sad/angry young man, and though disheartened he took the boy in (despite much opposition on Erin’s side) and brought him to America where the lies Erin’s mother told him were found out to be such and his father tried to rekindle a relationship with his son (which at first didn’t work due to his work schedule, so he quit and took a new job while enrolling Erin at the boarding school in order to give him the future he deserved)

No one really knows how the rumors started about him at school but somehow Erin got himself a bad name off the start. His roommate doesn’t help any, blaming his messes on Erin who, while making sure his art is perfect can come back to the room and go to sleep covered in dust and clay; and raging on the fact Erin is clumsy by saying he broke stuff in their room on purpose when it really was an accident; or that Erin is rude/ stuck up because he is quiet. Another item that doesn’t seem to help is the unknown reason Erin seems to single out and pick on one of the janitors, Jeremy –the youngest and possibly coolest adult at the school-, by making messes –like spilling drinks and paint- right where the man had just cleaned up.

Reaction to character A- At first the two might click, finding something they have in common (book/ TV show) but as time goes on Char A will get warnings from her classmates about Erin, stay away, danger, etc, while Erin struggles with his feelings for char A, finding he has a crush on her but believing she’s a He refuses to accept his feelings and attempts to make her time at school miserable in order to turn her away. If she hates him then he doesn’t have to care about her, or something like that.
